New Mito M: High-Precision CT Inspection for Large Food Packages

Quality control for large-sized packages requires solutions that can meet demanding production challenges. To address this need, BIOMETiC presented at IPACK-IMA 2025 the new Mito M model, an extension of the Mito range designed to inspect even the largest formats thanks to a 500 mm conveyor width.

Extra Size, Same Precision

Developed for seamless integration into food production lines, the new Mito M 500 retains all the advanced features of 3D computed tomography, offering 360° scans and millimetric resolution even for extra-large packages—ranging from multi-product trays and thermoformed packs to multipacks intended for large-scale distribution (GDO).
Introduced as an additional model alongside the established Mito M, C, and B—developed respectively for multipack products, canned goods, and loose products, all with 250 mm belts—the new Mito M increases the flexibility of tomographic inspection while maintaining high line speeds, maximum precision, and operational reliability.

Uncompromised Inspection

Unlike traditional systems, this one goes beyond two-dimensional vision: real-time volumetric reconstruction allows the detection of hidden contaminants (glass, metal, dense plastic, pit fragments) even in complex positions, such as under the cap, at the bottom of the container, or between overlapping layers.

With its 500 mm field of view, the system can inspect large individual packages or multiple items in a single scan, optimizing production time and space without compromising quality.
The magnetic induction rotating gantry captures over 400 images per second, delivering detailed 3D reconstruction in real-time on production lines. BIOMETiC’s software allows for intuitive configuration, integration with existing systems, and immediate image visualization for quality control staff.

This model also helps eliminate blind spots and detect defects typically missed by conventional systems: glass fragments in glass containers (even under the cap or at the bottom), metal seals, air bubbles, filling defects, or foreign objects hidden between product layers.
